GROWTH OPPORTUNITY

WHY CONTRACT WITH THE GOVERNMENT?

The government market can be a great path towards additional revenue streams for a multitude of businesses.  Federal, State, and local governments use a variety of products and services, in both small and large quantities, to maintain operational efficiency.  In 2017, experts estimate that US Federal, State, and local spending will reach almost $7 trillion dollars.  In fact, the US Government is the world's largest consumer, and there are even laws that require the government to provide opportunities for small businesses.  With the right expertise and knowledge, there are an array of opportunities for commercial businesses to sell their products and services directly to government agencies.  The additional revenue stream of government sales can take a commercial business to the next level.

HOW CAN BUSINESSES WORK WITH THE GOVERNMENT?
There are a multitude of ways to sell your products and services to the government.  The most popular methods of government contracting are Federal Supply Schedules through the General Services Administration and through the open bid market.  Both avenues can be very lucrative, but it is important to know which is best for your business. The first step in government contracting is to obtain a DUNS number through Duns & Bradstreet, and next register with SAM (System for Award Management).  Once you have completed these steps, you can determine what avenue you are able to pursue based on the business size and industry.
